WHAT IS GUARDRAIL?

Guardrail is a system of interconnected lanes on both sides of roads, such as highways and national roads, designed to ensure traffic safety for vehicles on the road.

STRUCTURE OF WAVEFORM GUARDRAIL

Structure:

Waveform guardrail is constructed using steel bars (ends and middles) made of galvanized or red and white painted steel, with a thickness of 3mm. The waveform guardrail consists of multiple layers of steel sheets (either one layer or two layers), and these steel layers are formed into waves using specialized rolling machines and installed parallel to the road surface with steel columns. Depending on the terrain, waveform panels with different wave intervals (2m, 3m, 4m, 6m) are arranged. Between the guardrail column and the waveform panel, there is a cushioning panel and bolts with strengths ranging from 4.8 to 8.8. Additionally, triangular reflective signs, 3M reflective signs, are installed on each guardrail column to make the guardrail visible at night.

Dimensions:

A standard waveform guardrail panel has a thickness of 3mm and a height of 310 mm. Furthermore, the size of the columns and the length of the waveform panels vary depending on the terrain:

• Waveform panel length 2,320mm: column spacing 2m
• Waveform panel length 3,320mm: column spacing 3m
• Waveform panel length 4,320mm: column spacing 4m
• Waveform panel length 5,320mm: column spacing 5m
• Waveform panel length 6,200mm: column spacing 6m

Based on the shape of the columns, guardrails come in three types as follows:

• Circular column waveform guardrail
• Box-shaped column waveform guardrail
• U-shaped column waveform guardrail
